Simulacra

The Wisdom - we are a mirror unto each other.

The human brain is a pattern making instrument.  We are surrounded by familiar shapes - or we try to surround ourselves with the familiar.  It comforts us to have an anthropomorphic figure in the landscape.  We see faces and figures in the clouds, in fire, in stone and in water. Maybe our brain is playing tricks, maybe it is an ancient skill from our hunter gatherer days.  Perhaps this is where the belief that all natural objects have their own spirit/guardian/being arises.  Or, perhaps we are seeing the actual living being of the structure, actually seeing  mother earth and father sky.  Stone cliffs and standing stones can be changed by masons to emphasise natural features that already look like human faces, but fluid water cannot be carved.  Its forms are transitory.
